Photos - Secrets - Gardens (continued)
Five Dock

Corden Avenue, Five Dock, pioneers the concept
of a true driveway garden. |
Five Dock
Five Dock is the suburb for packed gardens.
Granville
One of the most imposing trees I have seen in
small, private gardens, is at the corner of Clyde and William Streets,
Granville.

In Granville, Hewlett St has Sydney’s
tiniest bridge – and it’s toll-free! |
Hassall
Grove
They’ve gone potty in Buckwell Drive, Hassall
Grove.
Hurstville
Grove
A touch of class shows how you can turn a potentially
unsightly wheelbarrow into a garden masterpiece.
This barrow is on show in Cecil Street, Hurstville Grove.
Kareela
Kareela is a suburb of gardens, but a Struen Marie
Street front yard towers above the rest.
Kyeemagh
This Kyeemagh market garden (only partly shown
here) is a big secret. Few people other than local residents are
aware that such a huge garden area is only 500 metres from Sydney
Airport and 9km from the city centre. The gardeners of a century
ago did well in securing a cheap, long-term lease. See the huge
range of vegetables from the pathway beside Muddy Creek.
Lane Cove
World War II Kokoda Trail veteran Frank Atkinson
and wife Loyse nurtured these azaleas that have blazed their own
trail down busy Epping Road, Lane Cove North, for the last 50 years.
